Retailers Closing In 2025. Whether they’re scaling back or shutting down, plenty of retailers are closing doors in 2024. Rising costs and more ecommerce are favoring large retailers and pushing smaller ones out of business.

Due to bankruptcies and other problems, retailers plan to close almost 3,200 stores this year, up 24% from a year ago. Several major retailers with noteworthy physical footprints recently announced store closures or have gone out of business altogether.
